Top Online Job Search Sites

Monstermonstercom Top Online Job Search Sites

One of the oldest sites that’s been around since the birth of the Internet, OK around 1994. Monster.com boasts one of the largest databases for just about any job. There are tools to conduct company research, resume building, and career advice.  From what I’ve been told…(wink), members who subscribe to Monster’s optional $9.00 per month membership get higher rankings on the employer job search lists. That means you’ll get more hits on your resume and maybe more calls!  Something to consider if you find your not getting enough monster luv….

writting What will I write about?

As with any writing endeavor, one must determine his/her audience. Hence, “What will I write about?”   Well, I gave it some thought and wrote some things down on paper to narrow it down and get a sense of order.  I’ve come to a few conclusions about what I will focus my attention on here at PaulJRoberts.com.  Now, it’s not a small list, but it’s not overwhelming either. Here is a list of my intended content:

 Why Im blogging?

I thought I’d kick things off by addressing a question that most of my associates are asking me: Why I’m blogging?

Well, the reason(s) are many and somewhat complex. Though my work is mostly fulfilling, there are not a lot of opportunities for meaningful conversation, growth, learning or teaching within that environment. I know that sounds negative, but it’s a dose of reality within my environment and many others in our society.  So, I don’t feel it is negative.  Some of us  have little time to “get out” due to work schedules or family obligations.  Basically,  with all these barriers, we don’t have a large pool of people in our lives to bounce ideas and thoughts off of.  To learn different points of view. To learn new and better ways to do and think about things. To succeed!

Paul J Roberts’ Wordpress blog is now repaired. Upgraded even!  First, the repair.computer repair Paul J Roberts Wordpress Blog Repaired

As I stated in yesterday’s post, I had to do a reinstall of  Wordpress and rebuild all the posts using Google page cache. Well, that sucked, but I got it done in a few hours. Then reinstalled all the plug ins and reset the SEO plug in.

Next, I updated to Vladimir’s newest rendition of the Amazing Grace theme with Blue Grace integration.  Which is nice because now Amazing Grace is the parent theme and Blue Grace is the child. So, if you make custom tweaks to your themes and then upgrade his theme you don’t lose all your settings! Way cool. I did have to migrate some of the php scripting from the old Grace to the new one, but now they work on either one.  I did have to make a new set of rotating header pictures for Blue Grace. That took about 20 minutes.

As it turns out, I like the Blue Grace theme better. Has more “pop.”

HowToS1 How to Succeed in Hollywood- and Anywhere Else

On June 30, 1976 , when Gerald Ford was President and we were just getting over Vietnam and Watergate, I opened my eyes in my apartment in New York City and closed them in Hollywood in a very cool hotel called The Sunset Marquis. My plan was to sublet my place in New York , work for six months or at most a year in Los Angeles , and then go back east.

In a couple of weeks, it will be 30 years, and I’m still here. Now, for the past many years I mostly travel around, speak, write about finance (which was my training), appear on TV about money and finance, and do commercials.

twitter logo s Twitter Tools for WordPress

Twitter Tools for WordPress is a cool little plug in that allows you to plug your tweets into your blog and/or your blog posts into a tweet. Sound cool? Well, it is!

Took just a few minutes to configure and now when I create a new post on my career blog it automatically posts a tweet on my twitter account with a link back to the post.  Cool stuff if you’re a tweeter sort.

Twitter Tools also gives the option to install a widget on your WP page. From there you can post a tweet to twitter if you (the WP admin) are logged in. Also, you can configure it to show the most recent tweets to post to your Twitter account.  More cool stuff….again…if you’re a tweeter sort.

AlexKing.org has some other really cool WP plugins to look at, so stop on by and shop around. Fair warning…his WP site loads pretty sloooooow.  But it will load.
