Many of you have been waiting for a full tilt review of an Acer Aspire Revo 3610 Atom ION 330. Well, here it is. Possibly the first one on the Internet with this level of detail. It’s taken a week of use to get the full impression of it’s power and abilities and this review should leave no doubt! So, here goes.
Some of you may already know that I’ve been on a quest for the ultimate “cut the cable” solution and save $70 + a month on crappy cable service with bloatware content. (more…)

So, I got my Acer Revo the other day and decided to show a few un-boxing pics. I figured this would tide you over until I finish the testing I’m doing for a full on user review. I was in a rush to plug the darn thing in, so my photography skills were lacking that day. But, here goes….

Got my new Revo 3610 up and running today. Using it as I type this actually. I decided to post my Flash 10.1 Beta on Acer Revo 3610 testing results. Here’s the Flash update details so far.
The new Flash 10.1 Beta is designed to off load or enable GPU acceleration of Flash media on video cards that support that function. (more…)

Ok, Adobe Flash Player 10.1 Beta was Released for Atom Ion! It supports GPU acceleration and GPU off loading of graphics processing for mobile devices and Intel Atom Ion PC’s like Acer Revo 3610, Asrock 330 etc.
So, if you have one of these Atom Ion units, you should be able to view web based content like Hulu with flawless quality. It may not help Flash based content viewed inside Boxee just yet as Boxee does not support GPU off loading or GPU acceleration. But the upcoming Boxee Beta may just incorportate that feature. I hope so.
Be careful. It is BETA, so you may experience issues. Hopefully not. I’m installing it on my Acer Revo 3610 ASAP!
Available for Windows, Linux and Intel Mac.
Get the download from Adobe here: Adobe Flash Beta 10.1
Post a comment on how it works on your Atom Ion!

If’ you’ve been living under a rock and have not heard about Clicker Beta, guess what? Clicker is now out of beta and is open to the public!
You can read about Clicker’s details on my other post. I like Clicker because the TV show and channel offering is quite broad-Food Network, Discovery, Travel Channel, Fine Living as well as the standard fair of mainstream network shows and channels. You can create a Favorites List, which makes getting your “view on” super fast and easy. Also, once you add shows or series to your favorites list, it tracks whether or not you’ve watched it! Which is very cool. No more trolling around from site to site or Google to find your shows. Now you have a on-stop-shop web site….Clicker.
Another cool thing I found was Bing Video. It’s similar to Clicker. For a MS offering it’s pretty good and functionality is nice too. But it lacks many of the other cable channels and shows mentioned above. But I’m sure they’ll add more over the coming weeks.
Check them both out and post here your impressions of each.

I recently ordered an Acer Revo 3610 HTPC from NewEgg. It was on back order, so hopefully it arrives in the next week or so. I’d like to post a real life, better than I’ve found elsewhere review of its performance for the masses. (my Revo gets delivered today! stay tuned for updated post)
If you’ve not heard about this little device, it runs the Intel Atom 330 dual core processor that clocks at 1.66 ghz and 533 FSB. It also uses the Nvidia ION 9400M video card. It has 2gb of DDR 800 dual channel ram (can upgrade to 4 gb). (more…)
A few days ago I ran across a post by the boys at Homeserverland. They have a great How To Install Magic Jack on WHS!
I’ve had my Magic Jack now for about 5 months. It has worked very well for the most part. There was an known issue with some random beeping in the background, but they have sorted that out with a firmware update.I’ve got a Panasonic 3 phone base setup connected to it and all works fine.
I’ve always wondered about connecting the MJ to my WHS since it’s always on. The How To at HomeServerLand looks pretty easy. The trickiest part is setting up the Service to run MJ when no one is logged in. I’ve done it before with other programs and it’s not too hard.
Anyway, if you want a super economical home phone for $19 a year, get one at your local Walmart, Wallgreens, Radio Shack, BestBuy etc. Then connect it to your home PC or WHS! You’ll love it.
What interesting ways have you put Magic Jack to use?
