Revision 3’s HD Nation did a nice review on this no-name Kworld ATSC 300U Plus TV HD 330 USB Tuner.

Looks like a good piece overall. Some posters on my Revo reviews have had good luck running it with little issues considering the Revo 3610 is technically under powered to run as a PVR.  One poster does not use the included software, but rather uses WMC to control the recording of shows. Sounds optimistic!  Think I’ll pick one up soon and do a test.

Find it at Tiger Direct: HERE

I know that a few of you 3610 Ion users are not getting fluid playback of Flash or DX in a browser or in Boxee even with the updates and all.  I’m stumped. I really am. As I’ve had great, smooth playback with my unit since day one.  Though, it seems to be random that a few are having a poor experience. And the symptoms are very similar to 1600 ION LE users and this just should not happen on the 3610.  So, here is a listing of my exact set up. It should be mostly complete.

My Personal Revo 3610 Set Up that works well

Revo Specs & Setup:

  • Revo 3610 Ion 330 2 gb ram  With Windows-7 64 bit preinstalled.
  • Connected via Cat-5 wire via a 100 mb network. (wifi sucks wink My Personal Revo 3610 Set Up that works wellWifi uses a lot of CPU and may hinder playback.  Especially Revo 1600 users with the  single core and ION LE chip.
  • Windows Aero is still activated.  For some, there may be gains by disabling it. Especially Revo 1600 users with the  single core and ION LE chip. (more…)

Kevin Rose is at it again with his Square iPhone Payment System.  Pretty bad ass little device. Swipe for payment, sign it, email the receipt and it even gives a GPS location in the email. Very, very cool!  Oh, and he invested in the company too.  Really???  I would’ve never guessed. ;-)

Wonder how the payments to my account work. Direct to my personal bank account, paypal, or do you need a full merchant bank account?

Nice piece, Kevin. I’d buy it.

Frontline: The Warning – is an in depth look into the foundation that caused much of the current US financial melt down.  Basically a ponzi scheme using the unregulated Derivatives market, all controlled by Greenspan and the US Government and abused by all the leading financial institutions from the Fed down.  The current issues date back to the early 1990’s and the current meltdown is actually the second since then.

But one woman, Brooksley Born, tried to blow the whistle, but was stifled by Greenspan. “We didn’t truly know the dangers of the market, (more…)

Jon Stewart: “The Only People Who Have Recovered From The Meltdown, Are Those Who Caused It”

Since the current financial meltdown cannot be adequately addressed by congress, the president or the financial institutions; seems John Stewart may be on to something after all!

Corruption and the robbing of America’s middle-class could not have been pulled off any better than this.  We’ve been duped……….again people!  But at least John Stewart can help us laugh about it and make us stand up and say, “hey, wait a minute …”

Warning-a heavy dose of reality with a tad bit of adult language.

Inside CES 2010 – The Boxee Box

Here is a good interview from Avner Ronen, CEO of Boxee, from the eGuiders blog. Good look  into Boxee, Boxee Box and Avner’s insight into the customers needs with regard to content and how they want it served.

The paradigm is changing!  Good stuff.  Glad I am able to play a wee small part in helping Boxee Beta get rolling.

boxeebox Boxee Box crowned Last Gadget Standing at CES CNN News

The Boxee Brown, a cube-like device that shares Internet content with your TV, is scheduled to go on sale this spring.

With the Boxee Box being crowned ‘Last Gadget Standing’ at CES last night, the ball will certainly start rolling for Team Boxee in the coming months.

The award is decided by a live demonstration and voted on via crowd applause at the event each year. It seems that “the box” narrowly beat the Plastic Logic’s Que e-reader and the Intel Reader, both of which scan text and reads it aloud. (more…)

boxee logo Get Better Boxee Beta TV Show Player Support on Revo Atom ION

Are you the owner of a Revo R3610 Atom Ion with Vista or Windows 7  and using Boxee Beta?  Are you having trouble getting some of the TV Show players to work like Fox, CBS and ABC? Well, I’ve got a new tip to Get Better Boxee Beta TV Show Player Support on Revo Atom ION.

While living my double life as a Boxee Forums Super Moderator, we discovered the following tid bit; Turns out that Boxee Beta relies on (requires) the PC to have Fire Fox browser installed AND the Move Networks plug-in. What? Did not know that? Heck, neither did I.  The reason is that Boxee has Mozilla browser built into it.  But, there are no plug ins installed. So, the Mozilla Browser in Boxee needs to borrow the plug ins from an external installation of Fire Fox. Got it?  I thought you would.
