Most on line videos are not streamed in TRUE 720P – 1080P format. They are typically 15-17 fps. If they were true HD quality, you’d need 2 mb’s per sec down load and the bandwidth used by the supplier would be HUGE. They call it HD, but it’s not exactly.
Also, streaming at that level is taxing on CPU’s. Your bandwidth pipe better be damn good too. Any drop in the feed and it will drop FPS. Any lag in the CPU’s ability to process it and it will drop FPS.
The Revo can and does Play full 1080P HD videos. It really does. But, most on line content streamed or downloaded is not “true” HD.
Also, my demo’s were not scientific in any way. I was trying to demonstrate “real world” usage of most common files, sites etc. 
I planed on getting some larger true HD files, and I found some on line ones too, and demo them. So much to do…so little time..LOL>

- I’ve had a few say this very same thing and have had little to answer for it. I did have a guy on the Boxee forums say that once her turned off UAC = User Account Control in Windows 7, then acceleration worked properly and video played smoothly.
I have not tested this and it seems very, very unlikely that it is the cause, but if you have not done so…try it. That may be the key that is causing the issue for some Revo users.

Boxee is running on a 64 bit Windows 7, but it runs in 32 bit mode. It is installed in the X86 folder on C by default. Runs really freakin’ nice now and GPU acceleration is working great on Flash, Silverlight, Move. Can’t wait for you all to be able to try it out!

Louie,The categories (Technology Business News Business Articles) are created in the Post Section under Categories. That’s where you’ll make new posts to the blog and then post them under that genre.
The Pages (about me, contact, services etc) are under the Pages tab in WP dashboard. Those are separate dedicated pages that are not blog posts.
The columns on the far right (left and right columns) can be edited two ways. They can be updated under Appearance, Widgets. The widgets can be used to update both columns with default offerings. Or, like me, I added PHP or HTML or Java code by pasting it into the Appearance, Editor, and open the sidebar.php. I put the Google ads, and retaggr and search and website grader. You’ll see the coding in the sidebar.php listed as left sidebar and right sidebar. Be carefull here and make a duplicate by pasting in notepad in case you hose it.

Louie,I changed my blog back to Blue Grace with my double columns. Is that what you want yours to look like? If so, I pasted alot of code for those widgets and such.
If so, I’ll dig up what file in the editor and where the far right column code is and shoot it at you tomorrow.
Let me know you read this so I can change my theme back to the new version.

You have to use Theme Editor itself in WP admin console. I no longer run AG theme, but I seem to recall in one of the templates you can read the code and it will be labeled right column and left column. YOu can manually add to them with HTML or use the WP widgets to add to those columns. - Acer Aspire Revo 3610 Atom ION 330 Review
I’ve never heard of anything called “HD1″ or “HD11.” There’s a lot of hype out there on these boxes, so beware what you bank on.
The Revo 3610 is the dual core 330 atom with the ION Chip & CHipset. It’s all there is, there’s nothing elseThe older 1600 single core (no longer made for almost 2 yrs) had XP and had the ION LE, which was limited to DirectX9 or less due to licensing issues that XP had. Direct X is mostly for video games and has nothing to do with HD playback. That’s the only Ion LE vs. Ion I’ve ever heard about and it has nothing to do with video playback.

Rose,Some webs and maybe browser games have not updated to work with Flash 10.1.
Also, you have to install the flash player for the browser you are using. If IE, then install with it. If you then change to FFox, you’ll have to install it again for that browser.I’m sorry, but I don’t have a background in testing or troubleshooting browser based flash games. You may want to try looking at the FAQ section of the site hosting the game. They might give you some hints.

Hi Paul,
Thank you for these two demos – the only thing that really concerned me was that when you were showing the stats for each video on test (both MKVs in this case), the frame rate was a low “15-17″ fps. With NTSC or PAL, normal display rates are 24, 25 or 30 fps.
Didn’t this alarm you?
Do you suspect the analysis is wrong, or are, in fact, frames being dropped?

Are you running Boxee in 32 or 64-bit mode?

I just wanted to say that I bought the Acer Aspire Revo 3610 the day it was available to purchase and I’m quite disappointed with it. I have not had any luck getting my unit to playback video as smoothly as yours. I’ve tried streaming videos from Hulu as well as Youtube and the videos just look awful. Play back is extremely choppy, and it I can definitely see frameloss.
I’ve tried various combinations between both Flash beta 10.1 & 10.2 along with the nvidia ion drivers that since supported GPU acceleration. I’m currently running Flash beta 10.2 along with the 195.81 drivers and I don’t know what else to do.

and initially had the same problem as James. After uninstalling the incredible amount of bloatware that came with the system and updating the nVidia chipset *and* video driver from the nVidia site (not the acer site), the video is streaming quite nicely now.
I also bought a Revo 3610 (it was on sale at bestbuy)
Also, I had the refresh rate at 85Hz which slowed things down as well. I dropped it to 60Hz. Good luck!

I’ve been considering buying the 3610 after what appears to be an overwhelming amount of community support for this machine. The revision I am considering has the additional hardware (4gb RAM, and a 500gb HDD).
People have mentioned clearing the pre-installed win7 of the typical Acer bloatware that you will be receiving. I have been using Acer computers for years, and they do have a lot of “bs” pre-installed.
Is the key for windows install listed anywhere on the device? I work with an IT dept, and it would not be difficult for me to get an install of 64-bit Pro Win7 for no charge, but I’d like to know if the product key would be easy to find anywhere on the Revo itself so that I can essentially install a vanilla copy of Windows
