HD Nation Fan mail-Acer Revo Review by Paul J Roberts

OK, so I sat down with my Acer Revo 3610 and Boxee Beta to get my weekly fix of Revision3 HD Nation and what do I see? Hosts Robert Heron and Patrick Norton reading viewer mail and I hear my name! Whaaaat? Stop, rewind, play…play……..TODAY!!!

Sure thing. A viewer named Mark from Perth, Australia wrote in asking them to do a  review of the Atom Ion Acer Revo 3610. Mark went on to say that they may also “get a kick” out of  a web site featuring a Revo 3610 review with video of Robert and Patrick from HD Nation!  They mentioned my site by name, show a screen shot,  and mention the review was pretty cool.  Nice!

Robert, Patrick, and Mark; thanks for the props! I’m, for once, speechless.

The video does force a commercial, but it’s quick.

Congressional hearings regarding NBC and Comcast merger and the blocking of Hulu content on Boxee was brought to the table yesterday. Zucker stating that he is open to offering Hulu to Boxee, but only through a licensing agreement. Which is a contradiction of a comment made months earlier by Hulu management.

See the qued video right as Zucker is questioned directly by Congress. Here

Frontline: The Warning – is an in depth look into the foundation that caused much of the current US financial melt down.  Basically a ponzi scheme using the unregulated Derivatives market, all controlled by Greenspan and the US Government and abused by all the leading financial institutions from the Fed down.  The current issues date back to the early 1990’s and the current meltdown is actually the second since then.

But one woman, Brooksley Born, tried to blow the whistle, but was stifled by Greenspan. “We didn’t truly know the dangers of the market, (more…)

Jon Stewart: “The Only People Who Have Recovered From The Meltdown, Are Those Who Caused It”

Since the current financial meltdown cannot be adequately addressed by congress, the president or the financial institutions; seems John Stewart may be on to something after all!

Corruption and the robbing of America’s middle-class could not have been pulled off any better than this.  We’ve been duped……….again people!  But at least John Stewart can help us laugh about it and make us stand up and say, “hey, wait a minute …”

Warning-a heavy dose of reality with a tad bit of adult language.

WHS 300x122 Windows Home Server FTP Backup Using Handy Backup

This post provides info on FTP backups for Windows Home Server using Handy Backup as a service. Below is an article I originally developed and posted back in 2007 on the MS Windows Home Server blog.  Many people find this a great alternative to a paid backup service specifically designed for complete WHS or large file backups. This would be used in conjunction with WHS Duplication, NAS backup, etc. Redundant backups, including “off site backups like this article covers, are most affective in the event of a total loss of your WHS due to fire, theft or excessive damage.

What is Google Waive? Here is a pretty hip two minute video that gives  quick and dirty explanation of what Google Wave can do.

OK. OK. So you’ve heard about Google Wave.  Maybe even tried  to sit through that crappy Google Wave video they put out a few months back. I personally turned it off in 6o seconds!  (more…)

To those that are following my blog here at Paul J Roberts .com, soon there will be more to come.

I’ve had some things come up recently that have stymied my attempts go get things rolling on a somewhat regular basis. The infrastructure is complete, settings perfect, Google crawling and ranking is sweet, and traffic is trickling in regularly.  I even have a dozen or so mostly complete business and tech posts ready. So, with that the blog is mostly ready.

Give it a few more weeks and I should be rolling along with content. Sign up for my email or RSS feed and when the new post start flowing, you’ll be the first to know about it.
If you have any suggestions, don’t hesitate to leave a comment.

Thanks,

Paul J Roberts

HowToS1 How to Succeed in Hollywood- and Anywhere Else

On June 30, 1976 , when Gerald Ford was President and we were just getting over Vietnam and Watergate, I opened my eyes in my apartment in New York City and closed them in Hollywood in a very cool hotel called The Sunset Marquis. My plan was to sublet my place in New York , work for six months or at most a year in Los Angeles , and then go back east.

In a couple of weeks, it will be 30 years, and I’m still here. Now, for the past many years I mostly travel around, speak, write about finance (which was my training), appear on TV about money and finance, and do commercials.

applelogo Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish, Steve Jobs

This is the text of the Commencement address by Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple Computer and of Pixar Animation Studios, delivered on June 12, 2005 at Stanford University.

I am honored to be with you today at your commencement from one of the finest universities in the world. I never graduated from college. Truth be told, this is the closest I’ve ever gotten to a college graduation. Today I want to tell you three stories from my life. That’s it. No big deal. Just three stories.

The first story is about connecting the dots.

equity Is it net worth or equity? The answer is both!

Author-Jeffrey Gitomer 2008

When I say “equity” what words come to mind? Most people think, “home,” or “home equity,” or some even “home equity loan.” Equity is the value difference between what you owe on something, and what that something is worth. A home, or a car, or a business.

There is also negative equity – you owe more that it’s worth. This is most prevalent in cars. It’s called being “upside down.”

How about “net worth?” What words come to mind? Most people think, “capital,” “money,” or “not enough.”
