Answers:
1-Yes, that will work fine.
2-Netflix works FANTASTIC. I'm addicted already! Use with caution...LOL.

Personally, I'd get the 3610 for $330 via Newegg.com. It will give you better overall performance. I've had many posters here and at other sites say that the 1600 will play most anything, but the CPU with one core does get maxed out easy and cannot multitask. If you've got the extra $, get the 3610 dual core like I tested here. So, yes the 3610 with Win-7 AND the dual core is a better choice really.

Check my post here with a 3 page review of the 3610 and my video post too! I think it will give you what you seek.

Paul,

Thanks for your extensive review of the revo. It's been a huge help to me. I am considering purchasing the $199 version of the revo to hook to my panasonic 50" 720p plasma. I have 2 requirements for the machine. I need it to

1. play my ripped collection of dvds from a usb hard drive ( i gather this will be no problem)

2. Stream Netflix videos instantly.

Number 2 is the one that i can't find any solid info on. Can you confirm for me that this machine can handle netflix out of the box? Or is Windows 7 that comes with the $330 one somehow better for netflix. (i'm a windows newb, My house is full of macs, but haven't used windows since windows 95)

Thanks, Tim
