Sale expert Jeffrey Gitomer walks you through techniques to close every sale that you try. I’ve been a long time follower and reader of Jeffery’s Sales Caffeine news letter and blog. He has a real no nonsense approach to sales that strategically analyze what motivates sales people and customers.
There have been several news posts out there stating that NetFlix is now streaming in HD via PC and Mac. Well, it seems that the Netflix player is now loading the HD icon in the bottom corner where the user can toggle the HD stream. Seems that it is not fully implemented as of yet though. Most are reporting spotty or no HD performance as of yet. But I bet this is all a work in progress and the full HD experience is just around the corner.
I finally finished the Boxee Beta on Acer Revo Review videos and uploaded to Youtube. These are broken into three parts:
Part 1 Flash Beta 10.1 RC-4
Part 2 Silverlight, Netflix and Apps
Part 3 Flash Beta with IE-8 Hulu and MPC-HC 64 with HD 1080p .mkv files
I tried to cover most everything that applies to Boxee Beta and the Revo 3610 in general. With so much material to cover, I visit each area briefly. So, you’ll see Flash Beta 10.1, TV shows, Netflix, music, pictures, and applications. Then I give a general demo of the Revo 3610 playing Flash on IE-8 and then finally some 1080p & 720P H264 and MKV files using MPC-HC 64 media player. A good taste of GPU acceleration and how smooth the playback really is for the doubters out there. There’s a lot to look at with nearly 25 minutes total video time. Continue reading →
This nettop from Zotac is a bare bone DIY system that will require: memory, hard drive and OS. At an estimated $260.00 US, it will be nearly $500 once you’re done adding a hard drive, memory chip and Windows 7 Home Premium. Wow.
Aside from the cost, the New HD-ID11 is one of the first units to be released using the Nvidia ION next gen video chipset with 16 graphics cores. It also includes the Intel Atom D510 Pine Trail dual core processor, HDMI & DVI outputs, 1 eSata, 6 USB 2.0 ports, audio in/outputs and a 6-in-1 memory card reader.
Seems like a nice step forward for the Atom ION combo and I’d be interested in testing this unit. Asus is due to also put out the EeeBox 1501p that will have the same hardware. Both are not available in the USA just yet, but are due out soon.
Below is a video with the unboxing of the unit in the UK and the install of the ram and SSD hard drive. Along with an XBMC installation promo.
Ok, I know…I know. I was supposed to make some Revo 3610 Demo vids month ago, but I had access to a crappy digital camera that also shot crappy video and then had technical and life delays. Now I got my hands on a Flip 1080P camera and will start shooting some usage vids for all the doubters out there. LOL.
I’ve got Flash 10.1 RC and the Nvidia 197 Drivers and Boxee Beta EA installed on the Revo 3610. So I’ll demo flash video, HD and Boxee functionality. Should be nice to get some real nice video up for you guys to see. Seriously, over the weekend I should have some postings going up.
With the HUGE interest and reader contributions in the comments of my posts, I’ve activated a New Acer Revo 3610 Review Forum.
You can now post your questions, suggestions and help fellow enthusiasts in this new forum. I’ve yet to finish some categories and such, but it will give us a more organized way to communicate with each other and track our successes!
Must register to post or reply. All you need to submit is a valid email address. Sorry, gotta keep out the riff raff.
Hope you enjoy them and thanks for helping to make this blog the “go to” place for Acer Revo info and assistance!
Stay tuned for an updated Acer Revo 3610-Boxee Beta-Flash Beta 3p Review Coming Soon! I’ve not done a review since December 2009 before Boxee Beta was released and with just the Flash Beta 1p on the Revo 3610.
I had some technical issues to resolve with my hardware and finally got things sorted out with the Revo. Bit of a mystery really, but that’s a later post.
I will have a review of the Acer Revo 3610 running Boxee Beta .0711, Flash Beta 1p vs. 3p and the performance results for each. Including video for all the naysayers and haters out there stating that Boxee does not play flash smoothly or that the Atom/ION machines are not capable of quality playback. Tired of the forum battles over that crap with people that don’t even own the hardware!
Anyway, the review will be big in scope and size, so it will mostlikely be multiple parts over the next week or so. Hope you like all the detail, and most of you say so in the comments, as I’m going to cover the gauntlet and make some more of my horribly narrated videos to show just how things work in the wild.
So, add my blog to your RSS reader or email notifier and look for the update later this week! Thanks for reading.
In case you missed the live episode of Engadget Show on February 28, 2010; Avner Ronen of Boxee provides an in-depth view on the business of Boxee, its future, content providers and the future of TV in general. A great 23 minute interview with the man behind Boxee.

HD Nation Fan mail-Acer Revo Review by Paul J Roberts
OK, so I sat down with my Acer Revo 3610 and Boxee Beta to get my weekly fix of Revision3 HD Nation and what do I see? Hosts Robert Heron and Patrick Norton reading viewer mail and I hear my name! Whaaaat? Stop, rewind, play…play……..TODAY!!!
Sure thing. A viewer named Mark from Perth, Australia wrote in asking them to do a review of the Atom Ion Acer Revo 3610. Mark went on to say that they may also “get a kick” out of a web site featuring a Revo 3610 review with video of Robert and Patrick from HD Nation! They mentioned my site by name, show a screen shot, and mention the review was pretty cool. Nice!
Robert, Patrick, and Mark; thanks for the props! I’m, for once, speechless.
The video does force a commercial, but it’s quick.
Congressional hearings regarding NBC and Comcast merger and the blocking of Hulu content on Boxee was brought to the table yesterday. Zucker stating that he is open to offering Hulu to Boxee, but only through a licensing agreement. Which is a contradiction of a comment made months earlier by Hulu management.
See the qued video right as Zucker is questioned directly by Congress. Here
