Congressional hearings regarding NBC and Comcast merger and the blocking of Hulu content on Boxee was brought to the table yesterday. Zucker stating that he is open to offering Hulu to Boxee, but only through a licensing agreement. Which is a contradiction of a comment made months earlier by Hulu management.

See the qued video right as Zucker is questioned directly by Congress. Here

boxeebox Boxee Box crowned Last Gadget Standing at CES CNN News

The Boxee Brown, a cube-like device that shares Internet content with your TV, is scheduled to go on sale this spring.

With the Boxee Box being crowned ‘Last Gadget Standing’ at CES last night, the ball will certainly start rolling for Team Boxee in the coming months.

The award is decided by a live demonstration and voted on via crowd applause at the event each year. It seems that “the box” narrowly beat the Plastic Logic’s Que e-reader and the Intel Reader, both of which scan text and reads it aloud. (more…)

flash Flash 10.1 Beta on Acer Revo 3610 Updated Version

Flash Beta 10.1 now has an updated version. They have gone from version 1p to 2p as of December 17, 2009.  Nvidia also updated their Ion video driver to to a 195.81 Beta.

Though, some users of these latest beta releases on Ion machines have claimed to have lower overall quality of playback. Some had dramatically lower quality. I hope to test both out here real shortly and post some updates.

And since Boxee  Beta now supports Flash and Silverlight GPU acceleration, this is a match made in heaven!

SomaFM-2

Ok, I made an Boxee Application called Soma FM 2.  Why #2?  Well, another developer made a Soma FM app some months ago. But, it did not list all 18 channels available on Soma FM and it would take over a minute or two to load on Boxee.  So, I thought, let’s expand upon his initial idea and make a new and improved version. Yes, I did email him via the address inside his app code, but there was no reply. (more…)

I have a blog post with video coming up after the public release of Boxee Beta. I’ll explain how Boxee Beta works and how the Revo 3610 handles it all.

I’ll cover applications in Boxee that utilize GPU acceleration such as: Flash 10.1 Beta 2p, Silverlight, Move, and DX.  Should be an interesting post. May require two posts!

Stay tuned come January 7th after CES.

Nothing says it like a picture or in this case video. Here are three Acer Revo 3610 Atom Ion Video demos covering H.264 files, Hulu Desktop & IE, and Boxee. They will give the understanding of how smoothly the unit plays! Since I did not shoot this in HD, as I don’t have a HD cam yet,  you will not get to see the fantastic clarity of the HD picture the Revo 3610 creates. I found that no one yet has posted any video of the 3610 on Youtube or Vimeo showing its functionality. So, I thought, why not? I’m not a great demo commentator or professional at this,  so be gentle. ;-)
